Dr. Jason Adams

The Grapevine-Colleyville ISD Board of Trustees has unanimously voted to name Dr. Jason Adams as the lone finalist for Superintendent of Schools, following an expanded and thorough search process.

A Texas public school educator with 28 years of experience, Dr. Adams is the current Deputy Superintendent in Garland ISD, where he has led districtwide academic strategy and school improvement efforts to strengthen instruction and improve student outcomes. His work contributed to some of the highest College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) outcomes in North Texas. In this role, he led systemwide efforts to strengthen teaching and learning, build leadership capacity, and improve coherence across a large and complex district. During a time of enrollment decline and fiscal constraint, he guided academic prioritization and aligned resources to maintain strong student outcomes while improving the district’s financial position.

To help guide the selection, the Board conducted a districtwide survey and hosted nine in-person forums, inviting staff, families, and community members to share the leadership qualities and experiences they believe are important in the next superintendent. More than 720 individuals participated in the survey, and dozens more attended the forums.

Feedback consistently emphasized the importance of selecting a leader who demonstrates strong leadership, clear and honest communication, integrity, and a commitment to students and staff. The Board believes Dr. Adams deeply reflects the leadership characteristics GCISD stakeholders valued most and will strengthen relationships, build trust and focus the district’s collective energy on the success of GCISD students.

“I am honored and humbled to be named the lone finalist for Superintendent of Grapevine-Colleyville ISD and grateful for the opportunity to serve this incredible community,” Dr. Adams said. “GCISD’s tradition of excellence, strong community support, and deep commitment to students make this district truly special. I look forward to working collaboratively with the board, staff, families, and community to build on that strong foundation and continue creating opportunities for every student to grow, succeed, and thrive in school and beyond graduation. I am excited to serve the GCISD community and work side by side with stakeholders to continue building on the district's legacy of excellence.”

Dr. Adams began his teaching career in Garland ISD, then in Chicago Public Schools before returning to GISD, where he built a strong foundation in student-centered instruction and academic growth. Early in his career he developed a deep understanding of the importance of strong relationships and the need to personalize learning for all students. He has remained focused on improving teaching and learning to ensure strong outcomes for every student.

He served as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal at Beaver Technology Center, a nationally recognized STEM magnet campus known for innovation, project-based learning and sustained academic growth. His leadership earned multiple distinctions, including National Title I recognition and designation as an Apple Distinguished School. He later transitioned to central office administration as Executive Director of Leadership, supporting principals across a diverse network of campuses and leading school improvement efforts.

“The Board of Trustees is thrilled to unanimously welcome Dr. Adams to our district,” Board President Dalia Begin shared. “Throughout this process, his outstanding commitment to students and clear vision for educational excellence truly stood out. We are confident he will build strong relationships with our students, staff, families, and community as we work together to provide exceptional opportunities for every child.”

Dr. Adams earned a Bachelor of Education from Illinois State University, a Master of Educational Leadership from Texas A&M University-Commerce, and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy from The University of Texas at Austin.

He and his wife, Alandra, a dyslexia therapist in Garland ISD, are the proud parents of two sons – Ian, who just completed his freshman year of college, and Lucas, a 2026 high school graduate.

State law requires a 21-day waiting period before the Board can take final action to approve the superintendent’s contract. The GCISD Board of Trustees is expected to take formal action on the superintendent appointment following the required waiting period at its June 15 Regular Monthly Meeting.
